"I like this place better compared to others in Taylor. I know is small and not luxurious but the coupons saved us money. You don't see or hear rivalry or gossiping within the assistants while you are waiting for your turn and your service. They treat each other politely so creates a relaxing atmosphere. The Dr is very meticulous analyzing x-rays and she explains everything to you in a gentle manner and does her best to be on time with you and spend the necessary time working in your mouth not in a rush but very professional no matter the schedule. We'll keep going there as long as they keep up with the good service."- N.T. / Yelp / May 23, 2019

Ideal Candidates for Periodontal Care
You may be a candidate for periodontal treatment if you have signs or symptoms of gum disease, including inflamed or bleeding gums, bad breath, loose teeth, and pus around the gums. Bone loss and gum recession are the effects of periodontal disease that may require additional care following gum disease treatment. No matter how advanced gum disease might be, seeking treatment now is essential to saving your health and preventing further damage. The presence of bone loss on your x-rays and gum pockets (spaces between the gums and teeth) that measure over three millimeters in depth may indicate the need for periodontal care.
What Is the Treatment Process?
There are a variety of periodontal treatments that may be used to combat gum disease; however, the fundamental goal of each is to control infection and arrest the disease process. During your consultation, our team will review our periodontal findings and talk with you about treatment options. While each case is unique, we may treat the various stages and effects in the following ways:
- Gingivitis is typically treated with a thorough dental cleaning (prophylaxis) and improved oral hygiene habits at home.
- Periodontitis is often addressed with nonsurgical scaling and root planing, which may be coupled with locally delivered antibiotic therapy.
- Advanced periodontitis may be best approached with a surgical procedure, such as osseous (flap) gum surgery.
- Gum recession can often be repaired with gum grafting services once gum disease is under control.
- Bone loss may be addressed with a bone grafting procedure during osseous surgery or following other treatments to regenerate bone tissue.
Recovery Following Periodontal Treatment
The key to effective recovery from many periodontal treatments is maintaining rigorous dental care at home, including good brushing and flossing habits each day. As periodontal therapies are personalized according to the severity of the condition and individual needs, recovery timeframes and directions will differ. A periodontal maintenance program may be established to help maintain your gum health and monitor your condition following gum disease treatment. Scheduled at 3 – 4-month intervals, these visits include thorough dental cleanings and take the place of regular biannual prophylaxis services.
Insurance Coverage for Periodontal Services
Since dental insurance coverage for periodontal treatments varies, we will review your benefits and inform you of any personal costs. Our practice will advocate for you on a personal basis to maximize the portion of your treatment covered by insurance. At ACE Dental, we strive to bring affordable dental care to your family and offer a selection of convenient payment options to help meet your periodontal needs in a budget-friendly way.
