Dr. Jyoti R. Sonkar stands out as the only full-time, board-certified periodontist in Central Texas practicing out of ACE Dental of Temple and Killeen offices with extensive expertise in advanced periodontal and dental implant procedures. A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Sonkar skillfully combines cutting-edge technology with evidence-based treatments to deliver the highest standard of personalized patient care.

Her academic background is robust, featuring degrees from Nair Hospital Dental College and further postgraduate training in Periodontics at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. She also holds a Master’s in Public Health from Kent State University and an Advanced Graduate Study in General Dentistry from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. Sonkar’s professional journey includes distinguished roles such as Pre-doctoral Program Director for Periodontology at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. Her commitment to education continues as she actively conducts and participates in Continuing Education (CE) courses and lectures across the U.S.

Her contributions to periodontal science are recognized by several prestigious awards, including recent honors from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundations and the ADEA Faculty of Color Scholarship Award in 2021. She remains a vital part of the dental community through her active peer review work for numerous dental journals and publications of her research.

Living in Austin with her husband, Dr. Sonkar enjoys traveling, exploring diverse cuisines, watching anime and engaging in board games. Her personal and professional life reflects her dedication to excellence, education and community engagement in dentistry.
